Can DoorDash drivers see how much you tip?

This page answers the question from the driver's side, and it's for both of you: the customer wondering what their Dasher sees, and the Dasher keeping track of it. The short answer: yes, a Dasher sees the customer tip. It shows up as its own line in the pay breakdown once the delivery is done, it's listed under the store's name, and it isn't always final. Here's what's on screen at each stage, and what can change afterwards. This describes the Dasher app as Tipper recorded it in mid-2026, and DoorDash can change its screens at any time.
What a Dasher sees, and when
An order passes through a few Dasher screens, and each one shows something different:
- The offer: before accepting, the Dasher sees, among other things, a pay amount, the distance, and the store the order is from.
- The delivery: after accepting, the delivery screen shows the store, the drop-off address, and the customer's name as DoorDash displays it.
- After drop-off: the delivery-complete screen and, later, the Earnings screen break the pay down, and customer tips get their own line.
Where the tip shows up after delivery
On the delivery-complete screen, once the breakdown under This offer is expanded, it splits the pay into two parts: DoorDash pay (such as base pay, and peak pay when there is any) and Customer tips. The Earnings screen carries the same split for each offer, shown when the offer is expanded.
Worth knowing on both sides: tips are listed under the store's name, not the customer's.
When one offer carries more than one order
- Orders from different stores. On Earnings, the offer is listed under all of its stores' names together. Expanded, it shows one Customer tips figure for the whole offer and lists each store's own tip.
- Two orders from the same store. DoorDash lists both tips under the same store name.
A tip can change after the delivery
The tip on the delivery-complete screen isn't necessarily the last word. DoorDash's help centre says customers can add a tip for up to 30 days after an order is complete, in the DoorDash app in some locations or by contacting DoorDash support, which can also adjust a tip. So the amount DoorDash shows for a delivery can be different when the Dasher looks at Earnings later.
If you're the customer
- After the delivery, your tip shows as its own line in your Dasher's pay breakdown.
- It's listed under the store you ordered from.
- A tip you add later can show up too. If you add a tip after the delivery, the amount on your Dasher's Earnings screen for that delivery can change with it.
Keeping your own tip record
If you're the Dasher, the manual way works: after each delivery, note the store, the address and the tip, and check Earnings later in case a tip changed. Over enough deliveries, that notebook tells you which addresses have tipped you and how much.
The reason this page exists: I built Tipper, an Android app, to keep that record for you. While it's running, it reads tips, base pay and peak pay from the Dasher app's delivery-complete and Earnings screens. Some of what it reads goes straight into your delivery history, and some waits in its Review inbox for you to check. Around tips specifically:
- A changed tip is a question, not a silent edit. When you open Earnings in the Dasher app within four days of a delivery and its tip there differs from the one you recorded, Tipper can ask you about it in its Review inbox, with DoorDash's figure beside yours. Nothing changes unless you choose, and if you keep your figure it won't ask about that amount again. It stays quiet when it can't be sure which delivery a line belongs to, such as two recent orders from the same store.
- Same-store orders: you say which tip was whose. When two orders on one offer come from the same store and go to different customers, and nothing on screen shows whose tip is whose, Tipper doesn't pair the tips by position. Once the Dasher app's Earnings screen has shown both amounts, it asks you which tip went with which delivery. If you don't remember, you can tap “I don't remember which” to save the delivery as tipped with the amount left unknown.
- The Tip map. It puts the addresses you've delivered to on a map (the ones it can find), each coloured by the tips you've recorded there: red for your better tips, yellow for your lower ones. Pick an address to see its average tip, how many deliveries went there, and how many tipped. Averages count only tips whose amount is known, and you can look at the last 7 days, 30 days, or all time.
Tipper does not show, estimate or predict an order's tip. Everything above comes from deliveries you've already finished. Its optional no-tipper alert also looks backwards: it can show a banner over the Dasher app when a drop-off matches an address your own record shows as untipped, or one you asked to be warned about. Tipper has no account and no server that collects your data, and the app doesn't send your deliveries, tips or earnings to me unless you choose to email me a log from its Settings.
